THE u starých šedivých HOUSE AND ITS CORNER

On the corner of Bartolomějská and Na Perštýně streets, the Baroque house U Starých Šedivých stands uninhabited today. Between it and the gable end of the Monarch bar lies an empty plot of land, testimony to the difficulties of rebuilding Josefov and the old town in the mid-19th century. The project consists of transforming the house into a mixed-use program featuring housing and common spaces. A public space is created at its heart: a garden hidden from the street. Around the central garden, a wooden structure redesigns the circulation. On the empty plot, a housing project blends into the urban fabric thanks to the degradation of its facade. Unusual details of shape are used in the plans: in acute angles are nestled balconies, in a space that is too dark is created a double-height room.
