Karlovy Vary - Centrum pro seniory a rezidenční bydlení

My design proposes a community centre and residential units for senior citizens in Karlovy Vary. My site is situated in I.P Pavlova in a vacant space between two existing buildings, behind the high retaining wall at the back of the site there is a large area of green space filled with trees and nature which was one of the key influences on my design. Time spent in outdoors is proven to provide many physical and mental health benefits to elderly people and so my proposal has a real focus on providing opportunities for this. Loneliness and isolation can be a problem amongst elderly people, and I hope that the design of a centre where senior citizens can come to socialise, relax and engage in activities will help to address this problem.
