Thight Line

Elise Lemartinel

Anotace

The project takes place around an old water tower that stands vertically, surrounded by three horizontal lines related to speedness : a river, a bicycle path and a railway track. In order to slow down the movement and highlight the tower, the bicycle path is redirected and so the riverbank. The tower is now an island. A journey is designed to emphasise the slow pace, a main one being a narrow embankment that connects one side to another. A tension between the pond and the riversore is created. With the organic shape of the pond’s islands and their wavying reeds grass cover, the straightness and rigidity of the bricks paths contrast. The tower, the finish line, stands tall, empty and full height. Split in half, the opening focuses on the opposite riverbank of the Elbe river.
