The economic potential of industrial heritage reuse - the Pilsen case

Ing. Petra Boudová

Regeneration of areas, previously used by industry, is a social and spatial necessity. Current efforts to redevelop industrial wastelands and abandoned buildings raises broader views than just architectural and construction issues. Will intervention bring positive or negative impact on the socio-economic development and status of the areas? The purpose of this contribution is to highlight opportunities in this field, some examples of adaptive reuses of industrial architecture in Pilsen (Czech Republic) and their potentials for the future development as creative incubators are discussed.
