In the Visegrad countries, dynamic urbanization of the central regions and shrinking of the peripheral areas can be seen in parallel, which challenges to urban development experts, policy makers, investors and the inhabitants. In the coming years main questions of urban development are the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, changes in the regulations of urban development, the challenges of climate crisis/protection, Industry4.0 and the circular economy, and the increasing role of functional urban areas.
