Barbora Seifertová passed away

She worked at the Faculty of Architecture of CTU since 2007 in the Department of Development, Science and Research. Over the years, she has become a pillar of the faculty in the solution of grant projects, management of the professional database and has contributed significantly to the development of scientific activities.

After studying archival science at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague, she began her career at the National Gallery Archives and subsequently worked as an archivist at the UPM Prague. For several years she taught at the Waldorf Primary School. From 2002 to 2006 she worked as an assistant to Member of Parliament Táňa Fischerová. Subsequently, she worked with the National Gallery in Prague and the State Archive Administration of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic. She also applied her organisational skills at the Vize 97 Foundation, where she worked briefly as acting director and project coordinator.

In addition to her academic and teaching activities, she has also worked in the cultural field. She collaborated in the preparation of several exhibitions of her father, the sculptor Jiří Seifert, in galleries across the Czech Republic.

"Bára quickly found a solid place at the faculty in supporting grants and research tasks. Her previous education at Charles University in library science and her previous work experience helped her a lot. In addition to her administrative proficiency, her family background gave her a warm relationship with art, her mother a well-known art historian and her father a successful sculptor. Understanding the architectural approach to work was natural for her. She was familiar with the intricacies of various types of grants and learned to work with external institutions as well as with the staff of the Rector's Office. Many of us knew that we could rely on Bara 100% if it was necessary to stay overtime or fill out forms on the weekend, it happened. She became such an indispensable support to several generations of vice deans responsible not only for development but also for science and research. Barbora's departure will be an appreciable loss for the entire faculty, which will be difficult to address. And her sturdy stride in the halls of the school and loud laughter will be long missed," recalls Dean Emeritus Zdeněk Zavřel.

Barbora Seifertová passed away on May 27, 2024. She was 61 years old.
