MULTI-PURPOSE SPORTS HALL AT ŠTRBSKÉ PLESO
Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation
The multifunctional hall is located within a proposed sports complex in the northern part of Štrbské Pleso. Given the specific environment of its location, the design carefully considered several factors primarily the surrounding natural scenery, terrain morphology, public spaces, and climatic conditions. The hall is designed for the general public, sports club training sessions, amateur sports tournaments, sports camps, and courses, as well as for teambuilding events, exhibitions, and concerts. The large volume required to accommodate all these activities has been mitigated by dividing the structure into spatial-functional sections: the entrance area, the area for individual sports, and the area for team sports. The entrances and spatial divisions also respond to significant visual axes, and the connectivity of the spaces aligns with the terrain's morphology. The simplicity of the building's form is driven by the intent to minimize its visual impact, ensuring it does not compete with the views of the mountains and surrounding forests. The building's façade is designed with respect to local climatic conditions, featuring vertical slats. The overall concept of the hall is further complemented by the design of the square in front of it.
