MONASTERY

This work presents a design of Trappist monastery on St. Kilian’s island near Davle village. The present-day island holds ruins of historic monastery of the Order of st. Benedict from 999, one of the oldest monasteries in Bohemia. The design is based on the transformation of the traditional monastery layout. The new structure is situated over the predecessor’s atrium paradise garden, which gives birth to a new kind of paradise surrounding the building. Self-sustainability with technical facilities are part of the design.
