SOCIAL HOUSING IN BERLIN

The topic of this diploma thesis is a project of social housing in Berlin, Kreuzberg. The polyfunctional building completes a previously destroyed urban block near the Spree river bank. Apart from affordable housing for students – individuals and young pairs, the building also offers home for previously homeless people and focuses on the relationships between residents, with the aim to create a strong community. There are spaces designed to be used by public as well, which contributes to the whole neighbourhood. Design of the surrounding public space is also part of the project.
