MARKET HALL IN PRAGUE

A new marketplace has not been created in Prague in several decades. In addition, it can be said that the marketplace as a type among public buildings in our country has almost been forgotten and replaced by contemporary temples of consumption. The diploma thesis is asking these simple questions: Is it possible in this day and age to reinstate the architectural concept of a marketplace into the center of Prague? Is it possible to build a covered multi-storey agora in the very heart of the historic city? The introductory part of the thesis tries to find the ideal place for such a building. The following passages then present the concept of the building, its funcionality and partial details. The whole structure of the diploma thesis is conceived as an academic game, at the end of which there is a basic appeal: " Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must build!"
