Apartment Building Ostrava

The nine-storey apartment building in the newly growing center of Ostrava between the Ostravice River and the Dolní Vítkovice area.The most distinctive element of the building is the monumental cylinder, where is a spiral staircase through the whole house. My inspiration was the industry halls of Ostrava, which were reflected in the cylinder and the brick facade with aluminum windows in a modern form. I lightly refer to the industrial past and present of the city. The apartment building consists of several residential units on six floors, two underground floors serve as garages with cellars.The ground floor to the street serves as a leasable area with an arcade space, used as a café or similar function, which will bring life to the street. The side to the river is intended purely for tenants and is used as a garden.
