Annotation

Mlynská dolina is not the centre of Bratislava, nor is it an urban periphery. However, this type of territory is generically known to many cities - (non)place in the city, transport space. The thick line of the motorway separates two completely different typologies and scales of development from each other, ultimately into two urban districts. Two sides facing each other, instead of a continuous urban structure. At the same time, however, the same line has the potential to connect, in a north-south direction, important natural phenomena and intensively used recreational areas: the Iron Well and the Danube embankment, which fall within the broader context of the Small Carpathian Mountains and the Danube Park. In my thesis I discuss the possibilities of urbanisation of this area.
