Sacré Coeur revitalization
Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project
Annotation
Prague quarter Smíchov has gone through a vast transformation. Former factory district was changed to an office and commercial center. Tens of houses were demolished due to a new motorway project. A hole in the city structure has left. The objective was to design an urban cure for the location next to the Sacré Coeur park and Holečkova street.
The urban solution is to complete the partly demolished town block and to build additional 3 buildings closing the urban mass. Size of the new blocks decrease towards the park while the scale of buildings and its proportions grows and thereby form an urban gradation. It has a culmination point at the two objects with cultural function, which should create a new active place in Smíchov, at the same time beeing a counterpart for the shopping center located under the hill. Two towers at the end of Grafická street accent the importance of this place. The third volume is dedicated to a senior center with kindergarten. The town block is finished by two apartment houses and nine town houses. One offers small size apartments and the other luxury maisonettes.
