Brussels Quarter - Gentbrugge, Gent

The topic of this thesis is the urban conception for a part of Gent after the highway E17 removal. The design is focused at the selected area around the highway exit 10. The design conception consists of four main principals based on the mapping of the area. The specific design of the building mass, public spaces and the activity design comes from these principals. The last part consists of designing the new social transport center for the area. The main aspects are the appropriate housing density, support for pedestrians and cyclists and lastly rich activities. The aim is to design a quarter of the future, which respects the local character and traditions.
