Annotation
The subject of this thesis is a project of an open prison situated in Pernerova street in Karlín district, Prague. The first part of the thesis contains of analysis of the current prison system in the Czech Republic and analysis of the development of the prison architecture and contemporary case studies. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to the proposal of the open prison in Karlín district. The proposal seeks to offer an alternative approach to punishment in the form of prison as a civic facility with important links to its surroundings.
