Miroslav Pavel received the Josef Hlávka Award

PhDr. Miroslav Pavel took over a Josef Hlávka Award at the annual event at the château of Josef Hlávka in Lužany near Přeštice on November 16, 2019. Pavel  obtained the award by the suggestion of the Rector of the Czech Technical University, Vojtěch Petráček, for an extraordinary doctoral dissertation entitled Architect Jindřich Merganc: The Human Dimension. The conclusions and results of the dissertation were published by the CTU publishing house in the joint publication Forgotten Generation. Czech architects in Slovakia edited by prof. Matúš Dulla.

 

The award was received from prof. Jindřich Vybíral, Rector of UMPRUM. "I greatly appreciate his work and it was an experience of my life and a great honor that I could meet him personally," Pavel said about meeting with prof. Vybíral, who is also a historian of architecture. PhDr. Miroslav Pavel is an academic worker at the Department of Theory and History of Architecture, specializing in the history of architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries and their overlaps. The Josef Hlávka Award is intended for talented students in bachelor, master and doctoral studies who have demonstrated exceptional skills and creative thinking in their field. It is awarded by the Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávkových Foundation.
