The Park of Marie Theresie

The park of Marie Theresie is located in Terezín near Litoměřice. It consist mostly of the current park Hálkovy sady at the opening of 5 streets: Dukelských hrdinů, Dlouhá, Prokopa Holého and Pod Hradbami. Today it is a forgotten and neglected place, but from the point of view of history, it played a significant role in the workings of the town. It carries many stories, some more noticeable than others. It used to be a place behind one of the main gates, a place of hustle and bustle and many events of everyday military life of 18th and 19th century. During the II world war, this was the place, through which the Nazis brought Jews to the ghetto on a train. Since the ending of this dreadful period, this place has fallen into deep slumber and awaits new stories to live through.
