Apartment house in Berlin

The studio assignment was to complete a block in Berlin, which is situated by the river and divided by U-Bahn bridge. The plot lies in a residential part of the block. The project focuses on the idea of Baugruppe, which is why it was important to create a very home-like environment. The building consists of numerous notional ‚houses‘– there is enough of privacy for everyone while all residents are encouraged to communicate to each other. The affordability of living was also an issue, which is why the structure is made of wood and concrete.
