Revitalization of the Veleslavín chateau complex

Eliška Šmardová

Annotation

Baroque chateau Veleslavín is from the middle of the 18th century. Two Prague doctors, Oskar Fisher and Leo Kosák, established the Pulmonary and Nervous Sanatorium at the beginning of the 20th century. They expanded the chateau with short Neo-Baroque wings and added three new pavilions to the complex. The large green area is reopened to the public and designed for socio-cultural functions. The exhibition spaces in the chateau are complemented in other pavilions by a senior home with palliative care and DDM with a children's group. Most of the mature trees are left in the park and are only supplemented. The now impenetrable fence wall is being demolished in three places into new entrances. The area uses its potential and becomes the center of social life in the Veleslavín locality.
