Buckle

The concept of the semester assignments is based on the transformation of an ancient Chinese play Tangram and its shape variations. The broader topic combines several projects into the final output of a coherent concept of interacting fashion accessories. Through playing with the given geometric shapes of Tangram, the challenge was to create our own monogram using a limited number of pieces. A Tangram alphabet was created by developing different variations of Tangram pieces. The buckle and the small accompanying design (earrings, cufflinks, brooch...) are directly connected with the compositional solution of the monogram initials, with emphasis on function, the fastening mechanism and the harmonization of the product as a whole, which is accentuated by the graphic design of a fabric print.
