New square of Nový Knín

Soňa Stromšíková

Annotation

Nový Knín si located in the Příbram region south of Prague and about 2100 inhabitants live here. The main problem of the design was to solve the car traffic so that it does not create visual barriers thought the square. The studies work with redirecting the road to the south side of the aren. This will create an open space headed by the dominant church of St. Nicholas for everyday social activities for example markets or pilgrimages. The historical traces are depicted in mature lime trees, planted in 1879 and in the detail of the paving, where the highlighted square is lined with a gold stripe, referring to the discovery of gold deposits in 1321.
