Climbing hall Podolí

Martina Sedláčeková

Annotation

The sports hall for climbing and bouldering in Prague - Podolí is designed as a local landmark responding to the urban axis of historic dormitory buildings. The two compacts are connected by a subtile glass neck. Polygonal floor plans are designed as operational and communication cores surrounded by climbing areas. The lower part of the building is an entrance hall and contains all operating spaces, including a boulder and a climbing wall up to 12 m. The upper part offers climbing walls up to 23m. From the buffet on the 3rd floor, the visitor has the opportunity to see almost all climbing areas. Natural lighting is provided by skylights, which copy the radial construction of the roof. It is a concrete wall system covered by a radial system of carrying ropes.
