HOUSING NOVÝ STŘÍŽKOV - searching for garden city
Annotation
The project introduces low-rise housing estate with a romantic character of a garden city or a gardening colony. A new form of urban housing, alternative to a living in an urban sprawl. I´ve been investigating sustainable forms of living in detached houses, principles of an urban structure and relations between its density and quality of living.
The aim was to create a specific condition for a specific place, with both environmental and utilitarian qualities. In the beginning I focused on searching for the right parameters, which would define the urban structure. I based the architecture on the principle of addition and bonding, enabling the houses to grow. The public space serves as a place for interaction, appropriation, inhabiting… I offer housing, yet I invite to live outdoors.
