Revitalization of the Small Square

Tereza Stejskalová

Annotation

The main idea in the design was to create a quiet square for the full life of citizens in Železný Brod. At present, the square is crossed by a quite busy asphalt road in the direction from the main square, which is also used by buses. The aim was to restore the pleasant, even village atmosphere, evident from the historical photographs. The square was divided into two parts, one is quiet and only for pedestrians and the other accessible for cars but with a significantly limited speed. The whole square was completely paved with granite cubes in various sizes and composition patterns. In the quiet part, a new building was designed with a bakery on the ground floor and apartments on the first floor.
