Opava Ringstrasse

The current appearance of city was influenced during 2nd world war, in which part of Opava was destroyed, and the subsequent building era, which does not rely on original structure of historic core, its importance and relationship to surrounding city. Today, Opava suffers from poor quality public spaces in many places, especially on the perimeter of the former fortification circuit. The aim is to achieve the quality and continuity of movement on the border between the historic Opava and the suburbs and to create a pleasant division from the traffic barrier located on the ring road. It is essential to create a clear connection between the city and the river, which is lacking. The extension of the green belt confirms the historic city's boundaries and encourages a smooth and safe mobility.
