Houses with a courtyard

Two houses are opening themselves and leaning into the street line, making the passerby wonder what lies hidden behind the wall. When they peep through the entrance gate, they will see a leveled courtyard, an intimate place for the inhabitants of the houses, a place for them to meet, throw parties or to simply relax. The bigger mass is a semi-detached house, both flats in it spread across three floors; the smaller one has two almost identical flats above each other. Similarly placed houses existed on the site in the past, leaning towards each other, creating a small yard between. This disposition was the source of inspiration for the design, which mainly focuses on creating a cosy and comfortable living space for the residents.
