Refine the Shelf

The aim of designed art school located in the historic centre of Polička was not only fulfilling requirements of functionality, but also of strengthening that, which inevitably belongs to childhood and growing up – the discovery of more and more freedom and developing of skills. That is why there are situated not only classrooms, but also spaces for play and leisure – a common room, a terrasse and a café. The visage of the building is defined by simple colour scheme and temperate use of materials. Lime plaster is accompanied by verdigris-clad windows, the main entrance, and the part of the hall. There are two types of windows and thanks to different scaling they create tension and asymmetry on the facade. The placement of the windows is defined by their function.
