THREE QUARTERS OF NYMBURK

Jessica Kleistnerová

Annotation

Nymburk is a city with 15k inhabitants. It set itself the goal of gaining prox. 5k inhabitants in the next 50 years. The local plan expect growth od the city to the west even at the cost of occupying arable land and expanding the city into the landscape. The task was to check the reserves in the inner parts of the city and to identify the direction of potential growth of the city. This creates the concept of three new districts with their own subcenters. Firstly by closing western housing estate and stopping uncontrolled growth. Secondly a transformation of the largely abandoned production area in the east. And finally, the southern quarter as a reference to the possibility of a new development on the other bank of the river Elbe.
