ŽOFINKA GALLERY OF MODERN ART IN OSTRAVA

The design of the gallery in Ostrava is based on a new urbanistic plan, which connects the center of Ostrava with Karolina and the Lower Vítkovice area. The area in question describes a part of a circle in which a long perimeter line is built as a wall against the noise of the railway. The gallery is located in the outermost part, leads across the Vysoké nábřeží promenade and rises to the banks of the Ostravice river. Its shape and location allow long exhibition halls for the exhibition of paintings, eastern halls for the exhibition of sculptures and also an auditorium overlooking the river. The green roof of the gallery connects to the pedestrian path leading from the neighboring building.
