Along the Bastions

Laura Izabela Lukáčová

Annotation

Prague's Marian Fortifications are an exceptional element in the structure of the city, the vast majority of the existing walls and bastions are now largely ruined, inaccessible or hidden behind bushes, but they still give a majestic impression and add an unusual character to the locality. By examining the areas around the walls it is possible to observe that the irregular shape of the bastions in connection with the existing buildings generates a significant number of unused areas of so-called - NON-places - vague remaining areas with scattered trees that lack a primary meaning. I am creating a path along the walls from Bastion IV of St. Charles to Bastion XI Kamenny. Taking into account the existing primarily pedestrian flows, I am placing access stairs and ramps along the path.
