Linear Hybrid Smíchov

The location of the site is both unique and challenging. On one side, there’s a peaceful scenery of river and fairytale-like views to Vyšehrad. On the other, a busy road buzzing with cars. From the very begging it was clear that our site represents a border between these two elements. A border which, shouldn’t take a form of a rigid line and divide the two sides even more. Rather, it should serve as a tool to combine them. The facades are taking advantage of the different natures of the two elements. Facing the city, the firmness of the wooden panels helps the buildings blend in with the surrounding buildings. Overlooking the river side, a dynamic play in the structure of the balconies can be seen, mimicking the movement of the water.
