Annotation

The Dresdner Heide is one of the largest urban forest parks in Germany. It has an area of around 6,000 ha and is located northeast of Dresden, which is directly adjacent to it. Historically, it was originally a royal field, later the forest became an excursion destination for the in- habitants of Dresden and the surrounding area. It includes a number of biotopes - different types of forest, bogs, meadows, in addition to small- er streams, the river Preißnitz flows here. The bed of the river Preißnitz and its immediate surround- ings are a particularly protected Natura 2000 area.
