APARTMENT HOUSE with ARCADE

Matěj Pechar

Annotation

Pilsen is a wonderful city with a well-preserved historic center, but unfortunately, during the Bolshevik era, scarred by traffic construction. An arcade runs through the building, which is seamlessly connected by a pedestrian zone connecting from the historic center to the main train station. A significant break in the terrain is solved with the help of a staircase, which is characteristically prescribed in the facades. It is an 8-story building, the 3rd-7th floors are used for living. The expression of the building is solved as a raster concrete facade, which is not playing at anything. The windows are covered with fabric hinged awnings and are solved using guillotine windows, which can simulate a loggia when opened.
