FAMILY HOME IN THIMPHU

The designed building is located at the foot of one of the Bhutanese mountains. The whole disposition was made in the way that the house overlooks the valley with large windows. This brings light into the interiors and at the same time, it mediates its residents panoramic view of the capital city. The main idea was to create a two-generation home that combines private parts with a monumental central shared room that can be used for various activities of the family. I ́ve designed this house concerning its sustainability. For that reason, it combines wood and clay as its primary construction materials. On top of that, I ́ve added a so-called green roof that supports water retention and filtrates greywater which helps to make the house less dependent on the city infrastructure.
