THIMPHU PRIMARY SCHOOL

The proposed primary school is located on the outskirts of Bhutan's capital, Thimphu. It is located at an altitude of 2,600 m.a.s.l. and this makes the climate mild to cool. The elementary school is based on the Waldorf education system with a focus on learning in nature. The school is divided into two buildings connected by a glass ramp corridor. The school is designed for 270 pupils, with nine classes of 30 pupils each. In the main part they receive their education in classical classrooms, in the second part there are classrooms designed for creativity - a laboratory, workshops and a classroom for cultivation. The second building includes a gymnasium, kitchen and dining room. Hexagonal gazebos are intended for teaching in nature.
