LAPIDARIUM IN ROUDNICE NAD LABEM

The Lapidarium in Roudnice nad Labem is located opposite the monastery. The design creates a reference to his garth with an innovative solution. The vaults and pointed arches are in the cloister are replaced with orthogonal shapes. The walkway along the railway track, which would otherwise be unused, is transformed into an exhibition space with a water program. The bearing element are massive masonry pillars that support the robustness of Baroque statues. The facade is designed as a negative of the interior. The rhythm of the pillars is depicted by hiding the module axes inwards, not outwards. I humbly respect the concept of the cloister and interpret it into a modern form. The expression of the building does not conceal the sculptures and allows them to stand out.
