leftover Svoboda Square

During this semester I tried to learn more about designing from the landscape architecture point of view. It seemed logical to begin with the smallest scale and try to design a public space more softly. For such a try, I was assessed with the Svoboda Square located in Libčice nad Vltavou just 15 minutes north of Prague. Libčice is a small town with a beautiful more village-than-city-like character. The square itself can be described as a space between places. Being not a square nor a park – cut into two - interesting central part with a town hall which is being designed by Ehl & Koumar, and a separated long green strip going all the way up through the town into the landscape. In my work, I try to change this leftover space into places – each different with its own character and purpose
