Water Castle Lipý

Vojtěch Dvořák

Annotation

Within proximity to the main square, nestled between the historic city's edge and the Ploučnice River, you'll find the Water Castle Lipý. Once mighty, fortified, and impregnable...it is a distant past. Only ruins remain of the castle. It's no surprise that the townsfolk tread around it like as if it were a heap of stones surrounded by untamed greenery, vast overcrowded parking lots, and wide impenetrable roads that fragment the city into quarters. The remnants of its grandeur have been relegated to the insignificant periphery of one of them. The main idea of the design is to restore the city's centerpiece back. Not only for its inhabitants to notice a significant and dignified space, but also a shared and welcoming one that draws them into its surroundings all the way to its core.
