Library in Roudnice nad Labem

Laura Lukoszová

Annotation

The library is located in the very center of Roudnice nad Labem and thus becomes an important cultural place and meeting point for the inhabitants of the town. The building opens up onto the adjacent park right next to a gallery. At the same time it leaves an important street line on its southern side and thus connects to the surrounding development. The library tries to preserve the form of the surrounding houses and its mass is divided into three parts with three roofs. The facade is made of rough white plaster with a contrasting stone wall below it, which separates the partly underground part of the house from its upper and main part. In the library space we can not only find books and lots of places to sit, but also a conference room, a hall for lectures or screenings and a cafe.
