Interconnection of two worlds

Bc. Michaela Tolopčenková

Annotation

Surface mining (open pits) results in the most visible and dramatic changes to the landscape. Large areas are deprived of vegetation cover, there is disturbance and loss of forests, habitat and displacement of people. These processes can also disturb water sources and riverbeds. On the other hand, quarries are an essential part of human society in terms of minerals and often create new habitats for protected plants. The goal of my work is a proposal for the reclamation of the Radotín quarries, which in the past had a major impact on the appearance of the present-day Radotín Valley and created an impenetrable barrier in the area.
