The design of the house on the Republic Square in Kolín nad Labem defines a new dimension of the square itself according to the urban plan of our studio. Its centre is an atrium with pavilions, in which the house hides its residential character. Residents use the pavilions to reach the doors of their apartments, where they can sit and chat with their neighbours or observe what is happening downstairs in the atrium. From some apartments it is only a step to the pavilions, thanks to the bays connected to the pavilions. The house also allows passage through its atrium and connects to the new pedestrian axis designed by our studio. People passing through the house can stop for a coffee, for example, or just wander through to the square.
