Prague Spa Hotel

The task was divided into two parts, first to create an urban plan for an area in Holešovice by the river and second to design one of the buildings on the site. I chose to design a combined spa hotel by the riverfront. The spa is located on the base of the building in heavy concrete blocks that can be experienced both from the exterior and interior. The concrete is cast against wooden grain panels to emphasise horizontality and create a clam and secluded feeling in the spa. The hotel and restaurant then raises vertically from the heavy spa taking the form of a light glass volume overlooking the river. Much consideration has been given to the movement paths and logistics of employees and deliveries to make the building functional.
