Green Town Hall for Vršovice

Olga Saprynskaya

Annotation

Cuban Square, chosen as the location for the new City Hall for Prague 10, is indeed called a square, but it doesn't have a completely classic appearance. This is influenced by its irregular shape, the absence of a dominant feature, and a lack of activities that would bring life to the square. The design of the City Hall focused on questions such as: What defines Vršovice? How would we characterize Prague 10 in terms of color or material? Why does Cuban Square look the way it does? How should the new City Hall be positioned and where? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the surrounding area of the future City Hall? What should the ground floor of the building look like and what should it be made of? The presented design attempts to answer all of these questions.
