WOUNDARIES

Annotation

The increase in Prague's population, insufficient supply of apartments and high prices. The reality of these days which however, appeared in Prague already in the 1920s. Similar to today, the then reaction to housing crisis was not sufficient and therefore, an excluded layer of the population was created, which moved to the so-called emergency colonies on the outskirts of Prague. One of them was established under the northern edge of Petřiny in the former sandstone quarries between 1915-1925 . It was a colony where its inhabitants also lived in rock dwellings carved into the stone. The proposal therefore responds to the historical context of the area, urbanistically redefines the original edge and brings social housing to this location as a reference to the original emergency colony.
