Pillars Of Unwinding

This semester's assignment was to design an urban plan and extend our focus to enhance one of the urban structures. For the urban plan, two crucial considerations determined the design outcome. First, an examination of the existing site elements led to a denser development towards the silo, while at the same time seeking a more profound connection to the water, by integrating it into the site. The Spa’s form aimed to establish a duality between its two parts, creating a contrasting atmosphere. Employing two distinct structural methods, namely a column-beam structure and a load-bearing core structure, both were made visible in the facades. Allowing the beams to extend over the promenade, with the main aim of framing the silo, introduced a diverse exterior aesthetic.
