UP - DOWN - AROUND

Annotation

The center of Broumov has been bordered by city walls since the 14th century. Since then, the need for fortifications gradually diminished, as did the importance of the walls, leading to their damage and, in some places, complete demolition over time. The proposal aims to restore the significance of the walls by replacing their fortification purpose with pedestrian and bicycle transportation uses. A park, vertical garden, parkhouse, and new residential spaces for 800 new inhabitants—all these are part of the new vision for the Broumov fortification circuit. In addition to increasing tourism interest both regionally and nationally, the proposal seeks to preserve Broumov’s historical values while complementing them with the values of the current generation.
