Annotation

The library building is located next to the Main Railway Station in Prague. The structure consists of four concrete cores and massive concrete grids on each floor. The structural system also blends into the exterior and is thus a co-creator of the facade. The underground floors next to the subway tube contain underground garages and subway station technology; the first underground floor is already adjacent to the newly created street and offers publicly accessible facilities. The main entrance is at the street level of the main ''highway''. In the middle of the layout on the above-ground floors is an internal atrium with a spiral staircase, and bookshelves are located between the cores. The perimeter of the facade can accommodate study spaces, offices, classrooms, etc.
