Galery for the Slavic Epic

Ondřej Ocelík

Annotation

The Gallery for the Slavic Epic is located near the National Museum and the Main Station, and closes the newly created square in front of the State Opera. The main purpose of the building is to display all twenty paintings of the Slavic Epic. The gallery is designed on a triangular plot under which 80% of the subway is located, which significantly influenced the design of the foundations and the overall structure of the building. The structure of the building is based on two triangular cores that support the entire structure with a span of 24 meters between them and containing all toilets and vertical communications. The main supporting structure consists of a reinforced concrete cassette ceiling, the cassettes of which are filled with luxfers, which allow light to penetrate through.
