The quality of public spaces has a crucial impact on the quality of life for city residents. Well-designed public areas promote social interaction, physical activity, and overall well-being. An inspiring example is the system of Barcelona’s superblocks, which reorganizes city neighborhoods to reduce car traffic and create more space for pedestrians, cyclists, and community activities. This approach not only reduces air pollution and noise but also increases safety and quality of life in cities. Limiting car traffic in superblocks significantly decreases traffic load, freeing up more space for green areas, playgrounds, and public activities. This model demonstrates how cities can transform their streets into vibrant and sustainable living spaces.
