OLD SUCHDOL SECONDARY SCHOOL

The design of the secondary school building was prepared as part of a study for a bachelor's thesis. The school is located in the historical core of Suchdol and is designed to accommodate 288 students in the prospective standard. Conceptually, the secondary school's design is based on the plan characteristics of an agricultural building that was demolished in the 1960s. The number of floors in the building is small due to the need to maintain the cornice level of Brandejs Castle, which serves as a local landmark. the building is partly underground, and connected with the neighboring carriage house and the castle through underground corridors. To illuminate the interior of the building, two large circular skylights were designed, positioned above the atriums intended for various activities.
